Abstract
Nd:YVO4 is an excellent gain crystal for compact diode-pumped Q-switched lasers because of its high absorption and strong gain under end pumping.
Combining the gain medium with a LiNbO3 electro-optic switch enables a compact solid-state source with high repetition rate and narrow pulse output.
This architecture is especially useful where pulse timing, beam quality, and cavity miniaturization matter.
Performance characteristics
The electro-optic switching stage uses LiNbO3 to release short pulses at high repetition rate while maintaining a compact resonator format.
The design direction emphasizes narrow pulse width and stable operation, which are important in micromachining, marking, and precision instrumentation.
Nd:YVO4 remains a strong candidate in this regime because it supports efficient LD pumping and high small-signal gain.
Application value
This type of Nd:YVO4 laser is suitable for precision processing, range finding, and high-speed pulse delivery in compact modules.
It is also relevant for laboratory pulse sources where stable electro-optic gating is preferred over passive methods.
