Abstract
Nd:YVO4 is a proven high-gain crystal for picosecond amplification, especially where compact geometry and linear polarization are beneficial.
A two-segmented doping arrangement improves thermal distribution and supports high average power while preserving beam quality.
This makes Nd:YVO4 attractive for ultraviolet generation chains and precision industrial processing.
Performance characteristics
The reported amplifier system delivers 280 W near-diffraction-limited picosecond output based on two-segmented doped Nd:YVO4 crystals.
The same platform is also suited to deep-ultraviolet generation at 266 nm through frequency quadrupling of the amplified 1064 nm pulses.
For applications that need high average power and good beam quality together, this crystal arrangement offers a practical engineering route.
Application value
This Nd:YVO4 amplifier concept is highly relevant to micromachining, photovoltaic scribing, UV patterning, and precision nonlinear conversion.
It also provides a strong architecture for high-brightness ultraviolet sources in scientific and industrial systems.
